What a Pleasure – Problem Solvers

After struggling [literally for several years] with all the necessary paperwork required to finalise my project, get plans sealed and separate titles etc etc I was recommended to SCM Projects. What a pleasure that turned out to be. They solved all the issues, were very professional, easy to communicate with and I would gladly recommend them to anyone contemplating a property development.

SCM helped my wife and me with our subdivision of a double block in Salisbury, Brisbane. It was our first subdivision project, so we thought it was wise to get some experts on board. Seeing all the things that need to be done for even a straightforward project, we’re glad we did. It’s more complicated than you think at first. SCM helped immensely and made it all a smooth and successful project for a couple of novices like us – money well spent!

We used SCM to project manage splitting our single block in Cornubia into three lots. The block was steep & not the easiest for us to find a way to achieve a split into 3. Jacon & his team always had a solution to every challenge that we encountered, were easy to contact/discuss things with, got multiple quotes for the required work, supervised/inspected the execution of the project & provided invaluable advice along the way. We ended up with a high quality result that we are very happy with. I am sure we would not achieved this without the help of the professional team at SCM.

Teamwork brings Results

Dear Jacon, Adrian and Sophie.

I cannot begin to express the gratitude that I have for stumbling across this little firm from Red Hill QLD called SCM and having the privilege of working alongside them. The whole team has been amazing (including Tracie, Matt and Demi) in supporting me throughout this amazing journey.

Just like every project it had experienced its normal turbulence’s, the constant ups and downs in business but ultimately achieving an awesome victory!  I cant really say that I even felt much of the turbulence as you always had the answers and the right advise to offer.

I always think of boxing when I hear the word team. Its never about the individual and his personal triumphs but more about the collective (the team) as it requires multiple people with multiple skills contributing together to achieve the pinnacle. That pinnacle can only be achieved as a team and I honestly couldn’t have done it with out you all.

I truly look forward to our next journey.

Kind Regards

” Construction management is the ‘doing’ end of the project which can sometimes be frought with traps & difficulties. Until I met Jacon in the latter part of 2006 I had difficulty finding someone with the necessary skill set at a price that was feasible for smaller projects. Until then I either tried doing it myself or employed engineers which can be expensive, affecting the bottom line. Over the past 5+ years Jacon & I have worked successfully on a dozen or more jobs freeing me up to initiate new projects”

“They saved me thousands”

In all honesty I don’t know what I would have done without SCM, I think the whole project would have fallen over and I’d have had to sell the block. I couldn’t be happier. Worth every cent, in every way…..they have saved me thousands – and given in return quality advice, endless patience and peace of mind. The design of our dream home on fourth generation family land was too hard for everyone I’d approached, except Jacon. He took it all on, kept me positive and on track. We are so excited for the house to be finished. Highly recommended, five stars!!

The process from concept to completion with SCM Projects was a very good experience and one that we could recommend in the future………..they helped (us) put together the idea in (our) imagination of building 2 houses on our particular block and it has gone spectacularly …..the process was very slick and quick…….from whoa to go (we) really didn’t have to worry too much; it was great!

Dear Jacon, Just a short note about our massive Paddington renovation project and to thank-you for all the work both you and your fantastic team have achieved recently with the new extension. Both Gill and I couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, we appreciate the hard work you and your fantastic team put into our project.Jacon has an authority of calm that means that the inevitable issues that occur during a project are identified and resolved quickly and efficiently with a minimum of fuss. Jacon is a very experienced and committed project manager and the way he maximises the best use of his consultancy team not only makes him a true professional but a dream to work with.

Many thanks.

“Dear Jacon, Thanks so much to you and your team for making my Mitchelton subdivision project a success! When I first interviewed you, I was looking to manage project risk, and had identified my inexperience as the biggest risk. Events proved me right. You knew exactly what to do, and brought the project in under budget, and only a little over time, despite my virtual absence as I coped with my mum’s cancer and recorded an album. I owe the profitable outcome in large measure to you, and consider your fees excellent value. I look forward to the next project!”

“We were struggling with a Town Planner to make headway in sub-dividing our residential lot. We needed to create an easement and replace services to our existing house within that easement, and the statutory and practical requirements of achieving the outcome were not always easily understood.

We contacted SCM who both simplified and managed the process for us, from calling tenders for the various works, and managing construction though to registering the titles. They took most of the pain away, \”got it done\” and we are very happy with the outcome. Good work.\”

I first used the services of SCM Projects several years ago on a 5 block subdivision. Using them to project manage the job saved me approximately  around $250,000 in costs and a year in time.

I have been using them to project manage ever since including another current 2 block subdivision, a 2 block subdivision that we have just completed as well as a couple of major certification projects in residential and commercial properties I have.

Jacon Parry of SCM Projects has been instrumental in the success of my projects and would highly recommend him and the team to get your job done. Over the many projects we have come across some large obstacles but each time the guys work their way through to a solution and onwards we go. I am currently looking for more projects as I know I have the team behind me to see anything I put in front of them through.

“I initially questioned the extra expense of using a project manager to oversee my project in Stafford, but having an experienced hand working on my behalf to manage a $700k project put the expense into perspective.

Jacon met with me regularly on-site, and kept me informed at each stage of the project. He managed many of the unforeseen issues that inevitably arise in a construction project, and was able to respond rapidly to day-to-day contingencies without requiring my input, thus leaving me free to meet my other obligations. As a result, the project progressed smoothly, and any issues that arose were effectively managed.

I am sure that this contributed significantly to a relatively stress-free subdivision and construction project, and has generated in me a keen enthusiasm to do it all again.”

Hi Jacon, just a follow up note of thanks for the good advice on this lot at 43 Nicholson Street Mitchelton. You mentioned at the time there were two issues – one was getting council approval to subdivide on feasible terms, and the other was dealing with stormwater since its on the low side of the road. From speaking with the realtor, it seems you were bang on. Although the council was supportive of it being subdivided, the retirement village made an objection based on stormwater (the line is just inside their boundary), which apparently prevented the subdivision!

I would like to thank you and your team Jacon for all your work on Geebung subdivision project.  You made a process that began as daunting and confusing into an easy and stress free one.  It was a relief to know that the work was being performed by a professional Project Manager with the correct knowledge of the industry and that my time and money wasn’t being wasted by unnecessary activities.  I am so glad I decided to spend the extra money on a project manager and would not hesitate in recommending you to anybody in the process of subdividing land.

Sandy McKeown – Happy Client

I wanted to build a two story home that provided separate living for each floor. My block of land is also long and narrow, so this had limitations on how wide I could go with the house. Jacon Parry and his team of professionals at SCM Projects Brisbane were outstanding in helping me transform my vision into a reality. They listened to what I was trying to achieve and would then provide me with a variety of solutions. The builder they chose also did a superb job.

Dual Living:

Today I have a wonderful two story home, dual living home with the downstairs unit having two bedrooms & two bathrooms and a substantial size kitchen. It’s spacious and well designed. I live upstairs and again a over-size two bedroom, two bathroom unit. Throughout this experience, Jacon and the team demonstrated their experience and knowledge. I was able to talk to any of them at any time when I was unsure or needed clarification of a particular activity. Although I had some doubts I totally recommend using a competent Project Manager based on my experience. Through the entire build experience, I was made to feel as though I was their only client, even though they had plenty on the go. What I found completely outstanding, and a fabulous surprise, was receiving the home builder’s gift from SCM Projects on completion.

SCM Projects to the rescue x two

Townhouse Project Rescued Twice

I was referred to SCM back in the middle of 2013 for my Adamson street, Wooloowin Townhouse project in Brisbane but, despite making some tentative enquiries of them early in the piece, I was keen to accomplish my project by myself and potentially save a few dollars along the way. Well that was the plan anyway – I thought that my experience in senior management roles would equip me satisfactorily to handle the tasks involved. So, I pressed ahead thinking “this can’t be all that hard, surely”!?

Rescue No 1

I managed to organise my own DA after a lot of mucking around but getting past that to the next stage proved a lot more difficult and time consuming than I imagined. Time flew by and before I knew it 2015 had arrived and all I had to show was some “estimated” project costs around the $1.1M mark which was not feasible. At that point, I gave up my project management aspirations and appointed SCM Projects and what a difference that made! Their methodical approach and knowledge came to the fore immediately. They tweaked a few things, gained some efficiency’s and presented me with a builder’s contract for just over $820,000 – a staggering saving of almost $300,000. That certainly changed its feasibility!

Rescue No 2

The job went smoothly enough and was almost complete when the builder went bust. Ownership of the business, a business that had traded successfully for many years, had changed hands during the currency of my job. Not to worry – SCM took charge and competently finalised things satisfactorily with little inconvenience to myself. The savings SCM generated for me covered the cost of their services many times over and I would happily use them again. My only regret is not bringing them on board earlier.

SCM Projects to the rescue x two - Rob Swinton

Dell and Philip Anthon

We were introduced to the team at SCM through our surveyor when we were finding it challenging to get clear advice and simple solutions from the various professionals we were consulting.
With a block of land in Clayfield we were seeking to subdivide, and nearly completed plans for 2 houses, we wanted to be fully informed of any obstacles, pitfalls and costs before starting our project.
Jacon and his team reviewed the project, made some minor but necessary changes and gave us a clear picture of the step by step process and answers to our numerous questions.
It was a massive undertaking with quite a bit of development work needed for our block before our houses could commence, but the team took it in their stride and were always available at the drop of a hat with answers and solutions. Jacon and the team were also able to obtain further building quotes for us (which saved us additional costs) and were great in allowing us the flexibility to be a little more involved in the day to day decisions.
The first half of our project is now complete and the second well underway”.

IP & MS – Auchenflower

“Jacon Parry of SCM Projects was our Project Manager for our Auchenflower custom house build. It was our first time building a house and Jacon’s knowledge and professionalism made our experience a positive one.

From the design and drawing stage through to completion, Jacon provided us with his suggestions, ideas and options of price and quality. His insightfulness in the design process helped us to have a house the way we desired but in a more practical and cost effective way.

All the negotiations with the architect, town planner, builders, tradesmen, Council, neighbors, and sales people were done by Jacon on our behalf. Jacon was always looking for the most cost effective answers within the design brief and we are sure that Jacon saved us a significant amount of time and money compared to if we had tried to manage the process ourselves.

There was no job which was not looked after properly due to the attention to detail and positive attitude which Jacon brings to his work. He made time to meet us on the weekend to take us through each stage of the building process. He also looked after the little things, for example he went to water the turf and plants after the landscaping was completed to make sure they would survive.

Jacon has a friendly and easy to approach personality. We had no problems in getting our emails, phone calls and requests for meetings answered promptly and efficiently.

We thoroughly recommend Jacon Parry to any person interested in building and property development. Having Jacon working for us gave us a great result and peace of mind along the way.”

“… I believe SCM Projects went above and beyond what I expected from a Property Development Manager in both the approval stage and the construction phase of my project in Ashgrove. You not only saved me valuable time but also saved me a considerable amount of money on the council fees and charges by simply knowing the right way to go about the process. …”

SCM project managed the preparation of a single house site, comprising four existing lots, for sale as four separate home sites. The project included demolition/removal of an old timber dwelling, clearance of all physical structures, connection of requisite water and sewerage services, survey and marking of individual lots, issue of separate land titles, obtaining relevant quotes and financial control.

The project was completed on behalf of a deceased estate and all matters were supervised by SCM in a very professional, efficient, timely and friendly manner, to the full satisfaction of the client.
