Apologies for the late testimonial for all you have done for us.
“Over 8 years ago my wife and I started on our journey to build our dream home. In 2012 we bought a 100 year old Queenslander nestled beautifully on an 800 m2 block in Ashgrove – an opportunity most people aspire to. Unfortunately, the house was in dire need of a renovation – something neither of us had done before.
Our plan to improve our home began immediately and we sold our investment properties to accumulate money to renovate our family home. Five years on we had set ourselves up financially (so we thought) and were ready to renovate, but did not have any experience or guidance on how to move forward.
We went through a tough design period dealing with designers (something naive renovators shouldn’t do without direction) and after 8 months finally had plans to tender out. To our dismay and shock all of the quotes returned were $100,000 above what we could afford.
It was at this point it was suggested we speak to Jacon at SCM. After 1 meeting it was clear to us that SCM offered the guidance that we wished we had before we started our design process. Within 3 months SCM had shaved $90,000 of our project (inclusive of their fee) while still having everything we wanted in our build.
Now, the only regret of my renovation was that we never engaged SCM at the beginning of our project to co-ordinate our design and council submissions – would have saved more money not dealing with designers directly. Their management of start to finish was stress free and reassuring as they dealt with every aspect of the build. All we did was watch it happen with a sense of pride and happiness. They were the perfect middle-man who worked for the client before themselves of their agenda (something that is rare in the building industry).
Overall, we would not have renovated if it was not for SCM. They are worth every cent and second of time they require. Additionally, I would like to commend SCM on the way they match the perfect builder to the client. We did not have one negative interaction with our builder – something SCM assured us was part of their service.

Our site had an existing DA for subdivision which was a bonus to an extent, but SCM’s subdivision experience identified that the DA had unnecessary cost and risk.
SCM provided sensible and pragmatic re-design advice for a new DA that saved the project 33%+ in direct site development costs and also eliminated the risks.
Additionally, SCM also remedied some key errors onsite that definitely would have impacted the project timeframes.

We used SCM to project manage splitting our single block in Cornubia into three lots. The block was steep & not the easiest for us to find a way to achieve a split into 3. Jacon & his team always had a solution to every challenge that we encountered, were easy to contact/discuss things with, got multiple quotes for the required work, supervised/inspected the execution of the project & provided invaluable advice along the way. We ended up with a high quality result that we are very happy with. I am sure we would not achieved this without the help of the professional team at SCM.
SCM helped my wife and me with our subdivision of a double block in Salisbury, Brisbane. It was our first subdivision project, so we thought it was wise to get some experts on board. ” Construction management is the ‘doing’ end of the project which can sometimes be frought with traps & difficulties. Until I met Jacon in the latter part of 2006 I had difficulty finding someone with the necessary skill set at a price that was feasible for smaller projects. I first used the services of SCM Projects several years ago on a 5 block subdivision. Using them to project manage the job saved me approximately around $250,000 in costs and a year in time.
I have been using them to project manage ever since including another current 2 block subdivision, a 2 block subdivision that we have just completed as well as a couple of major certification projects in residential and commercial properties I have.

Hi Jacon, just a follow up note of thanks for the good advice on this lot at 43 Nicholson Street Mitchelton. You mentioned at the time there were two issues – one was getting council approval to subdivide on feasible terms, and the other was dealing with stormwater since its on the low side of the road. From speaking with the realtor, it seems you were bang on. Although the council was supportive of it being subdivided, the retirement village made an objection based on stormwater (the line is just inside their boundary), which apparently prevented the subdivision!
I would like to thank you and your team Jacon for all your work on Geebung subdivision project. You made a process that began as daunting and confusing into an easy and stress free one. It was a relief to know that the work was being performed by a professional Project Manager with the correct knowledge of the industry and that my time and money wasn’t being wasted by unnecessary activities. I am so glad I decided to spend the extra money on a project manager and would not hesitate in recommending you to anybody in the process of subdividing land.
