We were priveleged to be invited by The Trade Commission of Spain to celebrate the gastronomy, sports abilities and other attributes and talents of Spain at a special luncheon held on the roof terrace of GOMA [Gallery of Modern Art @ Southbank] overlooking the Brisbane River with the cityscape as our backdrop – and what a magnificent afternoon it was!
Things didn’t finish there however as the celebrations continued into the evening in their corporate box overlooking the centreline at Suncorp Stadium (Lang Park) where the food and drinks continued to flow.
Our hosts, Chris and Jodie Carpenter proprietors of Top Tiles here in Brisbane, our sponsors for this event obviously recognised our tastes for fine fare in line with the fine range of Spanish tiles that they sell and are often specified in our projects. Top Tiles are one of our preferred suppliers and always provide our clients with first class service.
Exquisite fare on offer at GOMA prepared by renowned Chef Miguel Maestre who was one of the few chefs chosen to cook for the likes of Barack Obama at the G20 last year.
One of the highlights (aside from the Paella, Hamon & fine Spanish wines) was getting to meet the members of Villa Real soccer team, a 1st division member of “La Liga” – the team’s owner and major sponsor is “Pamesa” a major player in the ceramics industry in Spain. The boys couldn’t speak a lot of english but they helped cook and then polish off a wonderful Paella, which no doubt was their highlight of the day for them considering their 3 – 0 drubbing at the hands of Brisbane Roar later that evening. These photos were featured on the Villa Real website hosted in Spain.
